Solana-based AAA gaming metaverse, Star Atlas, recently announced that Animoca Brands has committed to purchasing $3 million worth of Star Atlas NFT spaceships.
The NFT spaceships are part of the Galactic Asset Offering (GAO), which includes a wide variety of different NFT spaceships where set prices range from $15 to $100,000, as well as Titan Ships, coined ‘the ultimate piece of space travel hardware.’ It is undisclosed exactly which NFT spaceships the Hong Kong-based company have committed to purchasing.
All revenue generated from asset sales during the GAO will be used to further the development of the Star Atlas metaverse, with co-founder and CEO saying:
“We are placing a high level of consideration into every aspect of our economics and governance model. These spaceships will allow players to create value from their participation in the ecosystem. With the help of Animoca Brands’ partnership, we hope to become a leader in the play-to-earn space by creating a metaverse with the opportunity for players to create real-world impact on their lives.”
The executive chairman and co-founder of Animoca Brands, Yat Siu, also commented on what the partnership will bring to the industry-leading software and venture capital company:
“We are looking forward to using these hyper-realistic spaceships in the Star Atlas metaverse when it launches, and to capitalize on its promising in-game economy while we drive opportunities for collaboration and synergy with our products, partners, and the other companies in our investment portfolio.”
With the game featuring immersive, photo-realistic and widely customizable graphics powered by a nanite version of Unreal Engine 5, the game is being hailed as the most likely blockchain-based title to grip a mainstream audience. With this in mind, and with the expansion of multiple facets of its Galactic Marketplace, the partnership with Anomica Brands, brings great anticipation and excitement to the games’ intergalactic community.
